Naganatha Swamy Temple, Keezhaperumpallam (Ketu)

The closing shrine of the nine planets, where Ketu found the Lord's grace.

At Keezhaperumpallam near Poompuhar in Tamil Nadu, the Naganatha Swamy temple is the Navagraha Sthala sacred to Ketu, the shadowy southern lunar node. Shiva is worshipped here, and tradition holds that Ketu — associated with the serpent's tail — attained the Lord's grace at this spot.

Devotees come to propitiate Ketu and remove its doshas, seeking release from hidden obstacles and the deepening of spiritual life. Completing the circuit of the nine planetary temples of the Kaveri delta, Keezhaperumpallam is the shrine of Ketu, worshipped with the other eight to bring the celestial influences into harmony.

The Navagraha (Tamil Nadu)

Around the town of Kumbakonam in the Kaveri delta lie nine temples, each linked to one of the Navagraha — the nine celestial powers that tradition holds to shape the courses of life: the Sun and Moon, the five planets, and the two lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu.
