1. INTRODUCTION
Devomsa ("Devomsa", "we", "us" or "our") is a mobile application and website (devomsa.com) operated by Shivraj Suryawanshi, an individual proprietor based in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, India.
Devomsa is intended to help users discover temples, places of worship, sacred sites and devotional information across India and, where a temple has one, to direct users to that temple’s own website. Devomsa is an information directory and does not facilitate, process, or provide donation links or payments to temples.
Devomsa is purely an information directory. It does not provide, arrange, or process donations, pooja, seva, chadhava, prasad, astrology, or any other religious, ritual, or transactional service, and it does not collect or handle any payment intended for a temple. This Privacy Policy therefore covers only the limited personal data needed to operate an information directory and the features described below.
References to "temple" in this Privacy Policy may include other places of worship and sacred sites of different faiths listed on or through the application.
This Privacy Policy explains how Devomsa collects, uses, stores, protects and otherwise processes personal data in connection with the application and related services.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with the Devomsa Terms of Service and any other applicable notices displayed within the application.
Devomsa seeks to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, to the extent and from the date the relevant provisions become applicable to Devomsa.
2. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
For purposes of applicable data-protection law, Devomsa acts as the entity determining the purposes and means of processing personal data collected through the application, subject to the nature of the particular processing activity.

3. WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?
We seek to collect only personal data reasonably necessary for providing and securing the services of Devomsa.
3.1 Information required for account creation
Depending upon the registration method selected by you, we may collect:
email address;
account credentials required for authentication; and
information received from Google or Apple when you voluntarily choose their sign-in services.
Where authentication is provided through Google Firebase Authentication, your password is handled by the authentication service and is not ordinarily available to Devomsa in readable form.
3.2 Optional profile information
You may choose to provide:
name or display name;
phone number;
gender;
date of birth; and
profile photograph.
These fields are optional unless the application specifically states otherwise.
You should not provide personal information in an optional field unless you are comfortable with Devomsa processing that information for the stated purpose.
3.3 Google or Apple sign-in
If you choose to sign in using Google or Apple, we may receive information made available to us by that service, such as:
name;
email address; and
profile photograph, where available.
Where Apple provides an option to hide your email address, you may use that option.
The information provided to us is governed both by this Privacy Policy and, where applicable, by the privacy practices of the relevant sign-in provider.
3.4 Favourites and preferences
If you save temples or other places as favourites, we may store that information so that your selections remain available across your sessions.
We may also store application preferences, including notification preferences and similar settings selected by you.
3.5 User-submitted content
If you use features such as "Contribute", "Add Temple" or similar features, you may submit:
photographs;
temple information;
corrections;
descriptions;
suggestions; or
other information relating to a temple or sacred site.
We may collect a contact email address supplied with your submission so that we can communicate with you regarding that submission.
The contact email used for a submission will not ordinarily be publicly displayed.
Your submitted content may be reviewed before publication.
Do not submit private, confidential, sensitive or personal information relating to yourself or another person unless you have the legal right and necessary permission to do so.
4. WHAT WE DO NOT INTEND TO COLLECT
Subject to the actual technical operation of the application and applicable law, Devomsa does not ordinarily request or collect the following for ordinary account use:
full card numbers;
CVV;
UPI PIN;
internet-banking passwords;
bank-login credentials;
Aadhaar numbers;
PAN;
government identity documents; or
precise location information.
Devomsa does not intentionally track your activity across unrelated applications or websites.
Important: Third-party websites, payment services, affiliate websites and applications that you voluntarily access through links in Devomsa may independently collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
5. HOW WE USE PERSONAL DATA
We may process personal data for purposes including:
creating and maintaining your account;
authenticating and securing your account;
verifying your email address;
providing temple and sacred-site discovery features;
maintaining your saved/favourite temples;
displaying profile information selected by you;
reviewing and processing user-submitted content;
communicating with you regarding your submissions;
communicating important service-related information;
processing voluntary financial support for Devomsa;
maintaining appropriate business, accounting, security and compliance records;
preventing misuse, fraud or unauthorised access;
complying with applicable legal obligations; and
protecting the rights, property and security of Devomsa, users and relevant third parties.
We do not intend to use personal data for behavioural profiling or targeted advertising unless the application is changed in the future and the applicable legal requirements, notices and consent mechanisms are appropriately updated.
6. CONSENT
Where consent is the applicable legal basis for processing, Devomsa will seek consent through an appropriate notice and consent mechanism.
Consent, where required, will be requested in a manner that is clear and reasonably understandable.
Where consent is required, you may withdraw consent through the mechanism made available by Devomsa.
Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
Where processing is necessary for another lawful purpose, withdrawal of consent may not require deletion or cessation of all processing.
The application should provide a mechanism for consent withdrawal that is reasonably accessible and comparable in ease to the mechanism through which consent was provided.
7. DONATIONS AND LINKS TO TEMPLE WEBSITES
Devomsa is an information directory. It does not collect, hold, route, or facilitate donations, and it does not provide donation links or payment pages for any temple.
Where a temple has a website, Devomsa may show a neutral "Visit Website" link to that temple’s own site, for reference. When you follow such a link, you leave Devomsa and go to the temple’s own website in your browser.
If you choose to make a donation, you do so entirely on the temple’s own website, in your own browser, directly with the temple or its own payment provider. Devomsa is not involved in that transaction in any way, receives nothing from it, and keeps no record of it.
Devomsa is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any temple, trust or government body. Links point to publicly available pages, and information is provided for reference only.
Devomsa does not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or security of any external temple website. You should verify a website’s authenticity before providing any information or making any payment on it.
8. VOLUNTARY SUPPORT PAYMENTS TO DEVOMSA
Devomsa may provide users with an option to make a voluntary contribution to support the operation and development of the application.
Such payments may be processed through Razorpay or another authorised payment service provider.
Devomsa does not intentionally collect or store sensitive payment credentials such as:
full card number;
CVV;
UPI PIN; or
banking login credentials.
The payment provider may process such information in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy.
Devomsa may receive and retain limited transaction information necessary for legitimate business, accounting, acknowledgement, reconciliation, fraud prevention and legal purposes, which may include:
name;
email address;
amount;
date;
transaction/reference identifier; and
payment status.
The exact information received from the payment provider may depend upon the payment method and technical integration.
9. THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
Devomsa may use third-party service providers to provide infrastructure and functionality.
Based on the current application architecture, these may include:
Google Firebase
Firebase may be used for functions including:
authentication;
database services;
application storage; and
other infrastructure services.
The exact Firebase services enabled for the application shall be governed by the application’s technical configuration and applicable contractual terms.
Google and Apple
Google and Apple may provide authentication services when you voluntarily choose Google or Apple sign-in.
Razorpay
Razorpay may process voluntary support payments made to Devomsa.
Cloudinary
Cloudinary may be used for hosting or delivering temple photographs and other permitted media.
We ensure that any data processed through Cloudinary is handled consistently with this Privacy Policy and our contractual arrangements.
Devomsa does not authorise service providers to use personal data for their independent purposes except where such use is permitted under their applicable terms, law or the nature of the service.
The list of service providers may be updated when the application architecture changes.
10. DATA PROCESSORS AND THIRD PARTIES
Devomsa may engage third-party service providers as processors or service providers for functions such as:
hosting;
authentication;
database management;
payment processing;
image/media delivery;
technical support;
security; and
other infrastructure necessary to operate the application.
Devomsa will take reasonable steps to select appropriate service providers and to ensure that personal data is processed in accordance with applicable law and contractual requirements.
We do not sell personal data as a business practice.
We do not provide personal data to unrelated third parties for their independent commercial use merely because they are third parties.
Personal data may nevertheless be disclosed:
where necessary to provide the requested service;
to service providers acting on our behalf;
where you have authorised the disclosure;
where required by applicable law;
pursuant to a valid legal process or order;
to protect rights, safety or security;
to investigate fraud, abuse or unlawful activity; or
in connection with a lawful corporate transaction, restructuring or transfer of business, subject to applicable law.
11. EXTERNAL LINKS AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Devomsa may contain links to external websites, applications or services.
These may include:
Temple websites
When you choose to visit a temple’s website through a "Visit Website" link, you leave the Devomsa environment. The temple’s website is operated by the temple or its own service providers and has its own privacy practices. Devomsa does not itself provide any donation or payment facility; if a temple’s own website contains donation, payment, or other options, those are provided and controlled entirely by that temple or its providers, not by Devomsa.
Affiliate links
Devomsa may provide links to books, audiobooks or devotional products sold by third parties.
Where applicable, Devomsa may receive a commission if you purchase through an affiliate link, without increasing the price payable by you.
Where affiliate links are used, appropriate disclosure should be provided near the relevant link or purchasing option.
Payment services
Support payments may be processed on a payment page operated by the relevant payment service provider.
Sharing services
If you share information using WhatsApp, social-media applications or other device sharing functions, the relevant third party will process information according to its own terms and privacy policy.
Devomsa does not control the privacy practices, cookies, security or processing activities of third-party websites or applications.
Users should review the privacy policies and terms of those third parties before providing information or making payments.
12. LOCATION OF DATA
Devomsa stores personal data through infrastructure configured for the application.
Based on the current configuration, Firebase Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage are located in the Mumbai (asia-south1) region in India, and authentication is provided through Google Firebase Authentication. Your core account, profile, saved-temple and contributed-content data is stored in India.
Certain third-party providers operate their own infrastructure: payment processing (Razorpay), sign-in providers (Google and Apple) where you choose them, and image delivery (Cloudinary) may process limited data on their own systems, which may be located outside India, in accordance with their own arrangements and applicable law.
Where a third-party service processes information outside India, such processing will be subject to the applicable law, contractual arrangements and requirements governing such transfer.
13. DATA RETENTION
Devomsa will retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required or permitted by applicable law.
The following general retention principles apply:
Account information
Account information may be retained while your account remains active.
Profile information
Optional profile information may be retained while it remains associated with your account or until you delete or modify it, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Favourite temples
Favourite lists may be retained while your account remains active.
Support/payment records
Limited transaction records may be retained for accounting, reconciliation, taxation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution and other legally required purposes for the applicable retention period.
User-submitted content
Published content may remain available where it forms part of the application’s temple information or community content.
You may request removal of content submitted by you, subject to applicable law, legitimate operational requirements and the rights of third parties.
Grievance and legal records
Information relating to complaints, disputes, security incidents or legal proceedings may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for resolution, compliance, evidence and legal purposes.
Devomsa shall maintain an internal data-retention schedule identifying applicable categories and retention periods.
14. DELETION OF ACCOUNT AND PERSONAL DATA
You may request deletion of your account through the application, where the deletion facility is available, or by contacting grievance@devomsa.com.
Upon a valid deletion request, Devomsa will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise personal data that is no longer required for a lawful purpose.
Deletion may not be immediate in every technical system because backup copies, security logs or legally required records may need to be retained for a limited period.
Where information is required to be retained by law or for a legitimate legal purpose, such information may be retained for that period and handled in accordance with applicable law.
Deletion of your account does not automatically require deletion of publicly available temple information or content that has been independently created or lawfully retained by Devomsa.
Where you have submitted content containing personal information, you may separately request removal of that content.
15. YOUR RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law and the commencement of relevant provisions of the DPDP framework, you may have rights including:
requesting information regarding personal data processed about you;
requesting correction or updating of inaccurate personal data;
requesting erasure of personal data where applicable;
withdrawing consent where processing is based on consent;
raising a grievance;
exercising other rights available under applicable data-protection law; and
nominating another individual to exercise applicable rights in accordance with law.
Requests should be made through the application where the relevant facility is available or by email to grievance@devomsa.com.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a request in order to protect your account and personal data.
16. GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL
If you have a privacy-related question, complaint or request, you may contact:

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to exclude or restrict a statutory remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA
Devomsa takes reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the personal data processed and the risks associated with processing.
These measures may include:
encrypted communications using HTTPS/TLS;
access controls;
authentication controls;
database security rules;
restricted administrative access;
appropriate password/authentication protections;
service-provider security controls; and
reasonable monitoring and incident-response measures.
No electronic system, internet transmission or storage environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and should immediately notify Devomsa if they suspect unauthorised access to their account.
Devomsa will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law if it becomes aware of a personal-data breach requiring action or notification.
Where processing is carried out through third-party service providers, Devomsa will take reasonable steps to use appropriate providers and contractual arrangements.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to exclude liability or statutory responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
18. PERSONAL DATA OF CHILDREN
Devomsa is intended for persons aged 18 years and above.
The application should not knowingly collect personal data from persons below the applicable age threshold contrary to law.
If Devomsa becomes aware that personal data relating to a child has been collected contrary to applicable law, it will take appropriate steps, which may include deletion or other remedial measures.
The application shall not knowingly engage in prohibited tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children where such activity is restricted by applicable law.
19. USER CONTENT, PHOTOGRAPHS AND COPYRIGHT
If you submit a photograph, temple information, correction, description or other content to Devomsa:
you represent that you have the legal right to submit the content;
you should not submit content that infringes another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other legal rights;
you should not knowingly submit confidential or private information;
Devomsa may review the submission before publication;
approved content may be displayed within the application; and
Devomsa may remove or decline to publish content where it considers such action appropriate or where required by law.
The detailed rights and licence relating to user-submitted content shall be governed by the Devomsa Terms of Service.
If a person believes that content published through Devomsa infringes their copyright, privacy or other legal rights, they may contact Devomsa at grievance@devomsa.com.
Devomsa may remove or restrict disputed content while investigating a complaint, where appropriate.
20. ACCURACY OF TEMPLE AND SACRED-SITE INFORMATION
Devomsa attempts to provide useful and relevant information regarding temples, sacred sites and devotional content.
However:
information may change;
opening hours may change;
contact details may change;
donation arrangements may change;
temple management may change;
external websites may become unavailable; and
user-submitted information may contain errors.
Accordingly, users should independently verify important information before relying upon it, particularly before making a payment, travelling to a location or providing personal information to a third party.
Devomsa does not represent that every piece of third-party or user-submitted information is complete, current or error-free.
The information in Devomsa is provided in good faith for general reference only and is not guaranteed to be complete, current, accurate, or free from error. Religious, historical, spiritual, and traditional matters are, by their nature, open to interpretation, and different traditions, texts, or sources may hold different views on the same subject.
Devomsa does not intend to promote, endorse, or present any content that disrespects, demeans, or is intended to hurt the sentiments of any religion, faith, community, tradition, or social, political, or other group. All content is presented respectfully and solely for informational and devotional purposes.
21. AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE
Devomsa may contain affiliate links to third-party products or services, including books or audiobooks.
If you purchase a product through an affiliate link, Devomsa may receive a commission or other commercial benefit from the third party.
The presence of an affiliate link does not increase the price payable by the user unless expressly stated otherwise.
The third-party seller’s own terms and privacy policy will apply to the transaction.
22. DATA BREACH AND INCIDENT RESPONSE
Devomsa will maintain reasonable procedures for identifying, assessing and responding to personal-data security incidents.
Where a breach occurs, the response may include:
identifying and containing the incident;
assessing the nature and scope of the incident;
securing affected systems;
engaging relevant service providers;
assessing legal and regulatory notification requirements;
notifying affected users or authorities where required by applicable law;
taking remedial measures; and
maintaining appropriate incident records.
The specific notification requirements and timelines will be determined according to the law applicable at the time of the incident.

Devomsa may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
changes to the application;
new services or features;

Any such transfer will be subject to appropriate legal and privacy safeguards.
