Dakshayani (Manas) Shakti Peeth

By Lake Manasarovar at the foot of Kailash, where Sati's hand fell.

By the shores of Lake Manasarovar at the foot of Mount Kailash — the abode of Shiva himself — in the highlands of Tibet is revered the Dakshayani Shakti Peetha, the most remote of all the Mother's seats. In the tradition of the Peethas, the right hand of Sati fell here, and the Goddess is worshipped as Dakshayani, with Amar as her Bhairava, honoured as a sacred stone by the holy lake.

To reach this seat is to complete the supreme pilgrimage to Kailash-Manasarovar, where Shiva and Shakti abide together at the roof of the world. Dakshayani of Manas marks the northernmost and highest of the abodes of the Goddess.
