Bhramari (Janasthan) Shakti Peeth

In the Janasthan of the Ramayana, where the chin of Sati fell.

In the Godavari valley near Nashik, Maharashtra — the Janasthan of the Ramayana, where Rama and Sita dwelt in exile — is revered a Shakti Peetha where, in the tradition of the Peethas, the chin (chibuka) of Sati fell. The Goddess is worshipped as Bhramari, with Vikritaksha as her Bhairava.

The site is woven into the sacred geography of the Ramayana's Panchavati, adding the memory of Rama's forest years to the presence of the Mother. Often identified with the Devi shrines of old Nashik, Bhramari of Janasthan is honoured among the fifty-one seats of the Goddess in the Deccan.
