Bhavani (Chattal) Shakti Peeth

On the Sitakunda hills above the Bay of Bengal, a seat of the Mother.

At Sitakunda near Chittagong (Chattal) in Bangladesh is revered a Shakti Peetha where, in the tradition of the Peethas, the right arm of Sati fell. The Goddess is worshipped as Bhavani, and the famed Chandranath temple crowning the nearby hill is honoured as the shrine of her Bhairava.

Set on the forested Sitakunda hills overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the site is a revered pilgrimage for the Hindu community of the region, especially during Shivaratri. Chattal Bhavani marks the far-eastern reach of the Mother's abodes across the subcontinent.
