At Ambajogai in the Beed district of Maharashtra stands the ancient Yogeshwari Devi temple, dedicated to the Goddess Yogeshwari, a fierce and protective form of the Divine Mother and the revered family deity (kuladevi) of many families of Maharashtra. Ancient in origin, the temple is set in a town long known as a centre of learning and devotion, and is woven in tradition with the story of the Goddess and her celestial marriage.
The Mother is worshipped here with deep devotion, and her shrine draws great crowds, especially during Navaratri and at the Margashirsha Poornima festival. Yogeshwari of Ambajogai is among the most venerable and beloved Devi shrines of the Marathwada region.
