In the town of Shirdi in Maharashtra stands the Samadhi Mandir of Shri Sai Baba, one of the most beloved and widely revered saints of modern India, whose resting place draws millions of devotees of every faith. Sai Baba, who lived at Shirdi until his mahasamadhi in 1918, taught a message of love, charity, faith, and patience — "Shraddha and Saburi" — and of the essential unity of all paths, declaring "Sabka Malik Ek," that the Lord of all is one.
Living simply in a humble structure he called Dwarakamai and keeping a sacred fire whose ash (udi) is revered for its blessings, Baba drew Hindus and Muslims alike, and his following has since spread across the world. The white-marble Samadhi Mandir enshrines his tomb and a majestic marble image of the saint.
Shirdi remains a place of profound faith, where devotees feel the enduring, compassionate presence of Sai Baba.
