At Dakor in Gujarat stands the Ranchhodrai temple, one of the most beloved Krishna shrines of the state, where the Lord is worshipped as Ranchhodrai — Krishna who, to spare his people needless war, withdrew from the battlefield against Jarasandha, an act of wisdom rather than fear. Its tender legend tells of the devotee Bodana, whose boundless love drew Krishna to leave Dwarka and come to dwell with him at Dakor.
The temple, with its great dome and its sacred Gomti lake, draws immense crowds, especially at the full-moon festivals when pilgrims walk from far to reach the Lord. Ranchhodrai of Dakor is a cherished seat of Krishna in Gujarat.
