In the heart of the city of Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir stands the great Raghunath temple, one of the largest temple complexes in North India, dedicated to Lord Rama (Raghunath), the family deity of the Dogra rulers who built it in the nineteenth century. The complex gathers many shrines around its central temple, its inner sanctums gleaming with gold, and houses within it a vast array of deities and sacred images from across the land.
A grand and much-loved centre of devotion, the Raghunath temple draws pilgrims and visitors to the city of Jammu, and is among the most important Rama shrines of the north.
