On the confluence of the Krishna and Panchganga rivers at Narsobawadi in the Kolhapur region of Maharashtra stands one of the holiest seats of the Dattatreya tradition, revered as the place where Sri Narasimha Saraswati — honoured as an avatar of Lord Dattatreya — dwelt for twelve years in the fifteenth century. He left behind his Manohar Padukas, his sacred sandals, worshipped here to this day as his abiding presence.
Set on the riverbank in a serene setting, the shrine draws great numbers of Datta devotees who bathe at the sangam and worship the padukas, especially on Datta Jayanti and Guru Dwadashi. Along with Ganagapur and Audumbar, Narsobawadi is among the principal Datta kshetras of the Deccan, a beloved place of pilgrimage where the grace of the Guru is deeply revered.
