In Hyderabad, Telangana, stands the Karmanghat Hanuman temple, one of the oldest and most revered Hanuman shrines of the region, its origin traced in tradition to the Kakatiya king Prataparudra, who, hearing a divine chant while hunting, is said to have discovered the self-manifested image of the Lord here and built the temple.
Hanuman is worshipped in a seated form as the mighty servant of Rama and the guardian who removes fear and grants strength. Ancient in origin and much beloved, the temple draws great crowds of devotees, especially on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and at Hanuman Jayanti. Karmanghat Hanuman is among the most cherished shrines of the Hyderabad country.
