Ganpatipule Temple

Facing the Arabian Sea from a Konkan hill, the guardian of the western gate.

On the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, where forested hills meet a beautiful stretch of the Arabian Sea, stands the Ganpatipule temple, home to a revered self-manifested (swayambhu) image of Lord Ganesha. The Lord is worshipped here as the Paschimadwar Devata, the guardian deity of the western gate of the land, his image facing the sea so that devotees, circling the hill on which he sits, perform a natural pradakshina.

A cherished pilgrimage set against golden sands and blue water, Ganpatipule draws devotees and travellers alike, especially during Ganesh Chaturthi and Maghi Ganeshotsav. Uniting deep devotion with the natural beauty of the Konkan shore, Ganpatipule is among the most beloved Ganesha shrines of coastal Maharashtra.
