On the sacred confluence of the Bhima and Amaraja rivers at Ganagapur in the Kalaburagi region of Karnataka stands one of the greatest pilgrimage centres of the Dattatreya tradition — the abode of Lord Dattatreya, the combined form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. It is revered above all as the place where Sri Narasimha Saraswati, honoured as an avatar of Datta, dwelt in the fifteenth century and left his Nirguna Padukas, his sacred sandals, worshipped here as his living presence.
Devotees observe the tradition of madhukari (seeking alms) and bathe at the sangam before darshan, and the shrine is renowned for relieving affliction and spiritual distress. Drawing pilgrims from across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and beyond, Ganagapur is among the most powerful and beloved Datta kshetras in India, cherished as a place where the Guru's grace is keenly felt.
