On a hilltop beside the Bhadrakali lake in Warangal, Telangana, stands the ancient Bhadrakali temple, one of the oldest and most revered shrines of the Goddess in the region. Here the Mother is worshipped as Bhadrakali, seated in a majestic many-armed form bearing weapons, radiant and powerful. Tradition traces the temple's origin to the distant past, and it flourished under the Kakatiya kings, who honoured Bhadrakali as their tutelary Goddess.
Set amid great boulders overlooking the lake, the temple draws devotees who come to seek the Mother's protection and grace, especially during Navaratri. Bhadrakali of Warangal is among the most venerable Devi shrines of Telangana, deeply woven into the heritage of the Kakatiya land.
